CREA DDF® for Canadian Realtors
Through the National Shared Pool and National Franchisor Pool, the DDF provides you the flexibility to share at a national, provincial and/or local level. In addition, NSP has an additional feature which allows you to market your listings on the national franchise websites if you opt-in to the National Franchisor Pool. Appearing on national franchisor websites will provide greater exposure for your listings across the country.
The DDF is integrated into your website through a feed. that is updated daily. This feed can be programmed to show pre-selected searches such as “Waterfront” only, “Collingwood” “Nottawa”, your own listings, your brokerage listings, etc.
One of the main benefits for a Realtor is that the DDF listings reside on your site and each listing represents a page on your website. This helps greatly with SEO with quantity of pages and as each page is named by the street address and city.
IDX listings are installed on your website by an iframe so when a visitor searches it goes to an outside url for results and the properties do not reside on your site.
SoldPress Plugin for DDF on WordPress
I use the SoldPress DDF plugin for WordPress. This is a premium plugin and I do not recommend that you install and configure without consultation with a developer. I have even seen some website companies botch the install or neglect to take advantage of all the features such as custom search and widgets.
One drawback to DDF is that it can slow down your website. After much trial and error I have found the best web host and variety of tweaks and plugins to ensure the website and DDF can co-exist. The DDF feed must be monitored to ensure it is updating so it is not a set and forget plugin.
I highly recommend the SoldPress DDF plugin and encourage all my real estate clients to install it on a new or existing WordPress site. If you are interested in learning more send me an email at email@example.com
