Mobile search is expected to surpass desktop this year and April 21st is the day that Google will start expanding their use of mobile-friendliness as a ranking signal.

Mobile compliance is no longer optional for most sites. Recently seoClarity reported that mobile search currently makes up about 30% of total traffic and for some of us, it’s more than half of all search traffic.

The first step to find out if your site will rank “Google’s mobile friendly” is to use Google’s tool.

Even if you have a mobile ready site you should check with Google’s mobile SEO audit so Google can identify and serve your mobile content.

  • Validate your site with Google’s  Mobile-Friendly Test.
  • If you have a site, you can use your Webmaster Tools account to get a full list of mobile usability issues across your site using the Mobile Usability Report.
